Six Burloak Paddlers Named to Canadian National Team Heading to World Canoe and Kayak Championships

– Olympic qualifying event* set for August 17-21 in Szeged, Hungary –

OAKVILLE, ON (July 13, 2011) – Burloak Canoe Club, the country’s leading flat-water Olympic canoe-kayak racing club, today announced that six of its paddlers have been named to the Canadian National Team and will be racing at the World Canoe and Kayak Championships set for August 17-21 in Szeged, Hungary. The upcoming World Championships are an Olympic qualifying event*.

The athletes and events they will compete in are as follows:


Adam Van Koeverden (Oakville) : K-1 1000M, K-1 5000M*

Chris Mehak (Toronto) : K-4 1000M

Brady Reardon (Burlington) : K-4 1000M


Mark Oldershaw (Burlington) : C-1 1000M, C-1 200M relay*, C-1 5000M*

Aaron Rublee (Oakville) : C-1 200M relay*

Mallorie Nicholson (Oakville) : C-2 500M*

Burloak’s athletes earned their place on the 35 member Canadian contingent heading to Hungary based on results achieved at the National Team Trials held in Montreal this past weekend.
