- Fundraiser in support of Burloak Canoe Club to feature 8KM Road Race, 3.5KM Walk, 1KM Kids’ Run and Post-Race Celebrations -
OAKVILLE, ON (March 26, 2012) – Burloak Canoe Club (BCC), the country’s leading sprint canoe/kayak club, today announced the return of its Burloak 8@8 Road Race. The popular all-ages fundraising event – which includes an 8KM Road Race, 3.5KM Walk, 1KM Kids’ Run and Post-Race Celebrations – will hit the streets of downtown Oakville on Friday, May 4.

Entry fees prior to April 15 are $40 for individuals and $10 for children. The price includes participation in the Road Race, Walk or Kids’ Run, a technical t-shirt (adult categories only), and admission to the post-race celebrations which feature a gourmet BBQ and live band. Tickets for the celebration only are available for $20 each.
Rates after April 15 will be $45 for individuals (excluding technical t-shirts) and are unchanged for children.
Team Challenge Announced
Looking for a fun way to get fit with friends or colleagues? Enter a group of adults or youth in the Burloak 8@8 Team 8KM Road Race Challenge. The $300 entry fee ($325 after April 15) covers eight runners and offers the chance to win an on-water, team-building dragon boat session for up to 20 people.
Teams and individuals can register and pick up their kits on race day between 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Burloak Canoe Club at 160 Water Street or from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Running Company.
The Road Race and Walk will begin at 8:00 p.m. at the Burloak Canoe Club, while Kids’ Run will start at 7:30 p.m. from the same location.
All proceeds support Burloak Canoe Club’s world-class programs, facilities and athletes.
