– Canada’s Top Sprint Canoe/Kayak Club Gears Up for Olympic Year with Programs for All Ages & Skill Levels-
OAKVILLE, ON (April 2, 2012) – Burloak Canoe Club (BCC), the country’s leading sprint canoe/kayak club, today announced its 2012 Summer Program and Open House/Registration dates.
BCC will kick off its Olympic year with Open Houses and Registration sessions on Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, May 6 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. both days at the Burloak Canoe Clubhouse located at 160 Water Street in Oakville.
Members of the public are invited to stop by anytime during either session to learn more about the variety of world-class sprint canoe/kayak programs offered by the Club for all ages and skill levels, including:
Elementary (Ages 8+) and Developmental (Ages 14+): Summer-long programs designed to introduce and develop students in the sport of canoe/kayak at a competitive level.
CanoeFit and Masters (Ages 25+): An opportunity for new and experienced paddlers to enjoy the sport (and compete as a Master, if desired) in a relaxed, team-oriented atmosphere.
Visitors will also have an opportunity to register for the Burloak 8@8 Road Race, 8 KM road race, 3.5 KM walk and 1 KM kids’ run in support of BCC, taking place on Friday, May 4.
“The start of our on-water season is always met with great excitement among our athletes and supporters, and this year is no exception,” said Adam Oldershaw, Head Coach, Burloak Canoe Club. “With our very own Adam van Koeverden and Mark Oldershaw slated to compete in the Olympics, there’s no better time to be part of Burloak.”
All year-long program memberships include access to BCC’s facilities, equipment and top-notch coaches.
