– 8KM Road Race, 3.5KM Walk, 1KM Kids’ Run and Post-Race Celebrations
in support of non-profit Burloak Canoe Club to be held on May 4 –
OAKVILLE, ON (April 24, 2012) – Burloak Canoe Club (BCC), the country’s leading sprint canoe/kayak club, today challenged runners and walkers of all ages and levels of fitness to join its members and supporters in its second Burloak 8@8 Road Race.
The popular fundraising event – which includes an 8KM Road Race, 3.5KM Walk, 1KM Kids’ Run and Post-Race Celebrations – will hit the streets of downtown Oakville on Friday, May 4. The Road Race and Walk will begin at 8:00 p.m. from the Burloak Canoe Club at 160 Water Street, while the Kids’ Run will start at 7:30 p.m. from the same location.

Entry fees are $45 for individuals, $10 for children, and $325 for teams of eight runners (excluding HST). The price includes participation in the Road Race, Walk or Kids’ Run, and admission to the post-race celebrations which feature a gourmet BBQ and a performance by The Fab 4 Beatles Tribute Band. Prizes will be awarded for top finishers in each category.
Tickets for the celebration only are available for $20 each.
Teams and individuals can register and pick up their kits on race day between 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Burloak Canoe Club at 160 Water Street or from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Running Company.
All proceeds support non-profit Burloak Canoe Club’s world-class programs, facilities and athletes.
Enthusiastic Volunteers Sought
In addition to encouraging local runners and walkers to take part, race organizers are actively seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist on race day along the course routes and throughout the post-race celebrations.
