Now accepting applications for Burloak Summer Staff

We are looking for summer coaches for the Elementary and Canoe Kids programs. Note that with the age group changes, the Elementary program will be for the U15 age group with a focus on U13, while the Canoe Kids will remain mostly U13. All coaches will be responsible for maintaining a positive practice environment and working under the direction of senior coaching staff; further details about specific roles and responsibilities will be reviewed with selected applicants.

All coaches are required to have NCCP certification in canoe/kayak (Community Coach/Canoe Kids minimum).

Applications can be made by emailing headcoach@burloakcanoe.com. Please indicate which program you are interested in (indicate a preference if you are applying to both), as well as coaching experience and NCCP certification. Application due date is May 12, 2013. If you have worked in these jobs in previous years, please send an application anyway–your experience will be considered, but no interest will be assumed.

ELEMENTARY PROGRAM
The Summer Elementary Program begins on July 2 and runs until August 14 (some staff will be required until August 18 for Trillium regatta). Practice times are 9:30am-12:30pm Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. Elementary coaches will be expected to attend some or all regattas for the program, to be determined by staffing needs. Regattas may include: Mississauga regatta, Sudbury regatta, Balmy Beach regatta, WOD championship, Atom championship, and Trillium championship.

The number of coaches needed for this program will depend on the number of registered paddlers participating.

CANOE KIDS
The Canoe Kids Program is planned for July 2 to August 9; however, the number of weeks is still in development and may be as few as 4. Practice times are 9:00am-12:00pm Monday to Friday. Some liaison with other Town of Oakville programs may occur.

The number of coaches needed for this program will vary week-to-week, depending on the number of participants registered in each session.
