Hard to imagine now, but spring is around the corner, and we will soon be back on the water………..
The 2014 Burloak Canoe Club Registration Package is attached. The package contains information about the programs offered at the club – including program overviews, dates and fees, and the registration and medical forms required to be completed during registration.
You will notice some program changes this year – offering more options for youth and masters paddlers, with the addition of racing and non-racing options.
We have been able to maintain our program fees at the 2013 level; however the Region, Province and National Association fees have increased this year. Due to this, we have had to pass on a $20 – $30 fee increase (age based). These are mandatory fees, and we have broken them out in the Fee Schedule to provide more visibility.
We will be holding two Open House Registration days at the club:
Saturday April 5th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and Sunday May 4th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
The commitment of volunteers continues to be a very important part of the success of the Burloak Canoe Club. We rely on the dedication of our members (and their parents) to support our club events, bingo commitment, and regional regattas.
We’ve been able to keep our membership fees competitive and avoid increases this year (besides association fee increases which are out of our control), by relying once again on fundraising and sponsorship. Similar to other clubs, our objective is to raise $50,000 from the greater Oakville community, with your help. We are asking each family to sell 10 x $10 raffle tickets, to participate in the Ford Drive One on May 24th, to seek sponsorship opportunities, and to participate in all our fundraising endeavours. More detail in the Registration Package.
Just as a reminder, all paddlers are required to provide their own life jacket and whistle and to have this equipment on or in their boat, if not directly attended by the coach boat. Note: All Elementary age paddlers must wear a life jacket/PDF at all times when near or on the water.
If you have any questions regarding any of the information contained in the registration package, the Open House registration days are a great opportunity to get your questions answered, tour the facility, and meet the members of the coaching staff. You can also send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the club at (905) 338-8287.
