Nationals and CanMas Results, Olympic Hopes, Ford Drive 4UR Club, RBC Training Ground

What a summer! Burloak ended the season with a 3rd place finish overall at Nationals and 1st at CanMas. All those months of hard work paid off with fantastic racing and results, great memories and friendships forged…per aqua ad fraternitatum! It was a real pleasure to see our athletes shine. To relive it all, check out the CanoeWelland2017 Live Stream Archives. For results, check out the CKC Canadian Sprint Canoe Kayak Championships event page. Thank you to the many Burloak volunteers who helped to make Nationals a successful and safe event. To cap off the week, Burloak won the Sr Men’s 1000m war canoe race for the 14th straight year. That day, we had the honour of witnessing Adam van Koeverden’s retirement ceremony, our sport’s most decorated paddler in Canadian history.

At Nationals, two of Burloak’s athletes, Anya Chuprys and Jenna Neate, were invited by CKC to represent Canada at the international Olympic Hopes regatta in Racice, Czech Republic from September 15-17th. Best wishes to them both!

This Saturday, September 9 from 9:30 am-4:30 pm, come out and support Burloak at the Drive 4UR Club event at the club. Test drive a new Ford vehicle and raise up to $6000 for the club: each test drive results in $20 for the club so bring a friend or two along! Pre-register for your test drive to make the process quick and easy. We look forward to seeing you there!

Canoe Kayak will attend the 2017 RBC Training Ground athlete identification program for athletes between the ages of 14-25 at Brock University on September 16. Participants will compete in non-sport specific testing with the top 100 athletes from all sports qualifying for regional finals on October 14th in Toronto. Let Ryan Blair know if you are interested in attending this event; you must register yourself online on the RBC Training Ground webpage. Identified athletes will become ambassadors for the RBC Future Olympian Program and also receive competition and training support through CKC. Additional dates are September 9 in Milton and September 30 in Kingston.
