News This Week: BCC Job Posting and Accommodations for Nationals

BCC has a new summer job posting for an enrolled or recently graduated student for the position of ‘Accessibility Coordinator’. Please see below for more information and details on applying. A block of rooms has been set aside for Nationals in Sherbrooke, Quebec from August 28 to September 1, 2018. Please see below for further details.

June 18-August 25, 2018
Monday-Saturday, 3.5 hours/day, +1 regatta TBD

The Accessibility Coordinator will be responsible for running all paracanoe and Special Olympics based programming for the listed dates. The Coordinator will also assist with special accessibility needs outside those programs, including in the Elementary, Canoe Kids, and Masters programs, by working and consulting with staff in those programs. Of particular focus this year will working with the Head Coach to establish basic paracanoe and/or Special Olympics introductory programs, with planning for how to create sustainable racing programs for the future.

Time will be divided between directly running programs, and working with partners to establish new programs and contacts. Success measures for this year will be based on new participation in target programs, and program framework developed for future seasons. This position is funded by Ontario’s Summer Experience Program, so applicants suitability for that program is a priority (enrolled or recently graduated student, contact us for more details). An area of education and/or career plans related to the responsibilities of the Accessibility Coordinator is preferred, and experience with sprint canoe/kayak is valuable but not necessary.
